Chemical Peels:
A chemical peel is a procedure that uses a chemical solution to peel away wrinkled, blemished,
unevenly pigmented, or sun damaged facial skin. The procedure is non-invasive and poses little risk. The result is softer,
smoother, and more youthful looking skin.
Glycolic Peels
By increasing the turnover of cells and exfoliation, glycolic acid peels are effective
for decreasing the appearance of small wrinkles, reducing age and sun related hyperpigmentation, unclogging pores and helping
to control acne. Peels give the skin a healthy glow. It is an excellent treatment for those who are interested in reducing
signs of aging.
What is it?
Since ancient times chemical peels have been performed to freshen the skin and bleach age
spots and freckles. Now, new research has provided us with Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Of all of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids, glycolic
acid found in sugar cane has the smallest molecular size and is the most effective. Glycolic acid loosens the bond of the
dead skin layer from the live epidermis, producing a smoother, younger looking complexion.
What it does?
Glycolic acid works on the upper layer of the skin called "epidermis" to cause its normal
shedding to become more even. The most superficial layer of the epidermis is called the "keratin". This layer becomes more
uniform and less clumpy after a peel giving the skin a smoother feel.
Scientific studies showed that for the best results a series of three peels should be performed in
sequence, approximately two weeks apart. In between the peels and afterwards, glycolic acid cream should be applied twice
a day to increase the effectiveness of the peel. Individual maintenance peels can be repeated during the year depending on
the response of the skin. The latest findings recommend the more the better. The results of the peel are more noticeable after
the 2nd or 3rd peel. No anesthetic is required, and patients feel a tingling sensation during the peel. Peels are virtually
non-irritating. One can apply make-up immediately following the peel, thereby returning to work and normal activities. No
recuperation is needed.
Why we use it?
A prized procedure at Cosmetic Laser & Surgery Network is to get and
keep beautiful skin. Used in conjunction with a tailored skincare regimen or as preparation for laser resurfacing the glycolic
