THE TYPICAL PATIENT
- Anyone with small lips that would like a fuller and natural appearance.
- This can be done to correct some unevenness from one side to the other.
- Focusing mostly on the size and amount of pinkness showing.
- Also related to the length of the lips and drooping corners which can also be addressed.
THE PROCEDURE
- Anesthesia is a local injected into the tissues in the office and the procedure
takes about two hours.
- Filler materials vary from your own natural fat, synthetics implanted like Alloderm
or Gortex, or injectable substances such as Collagen Dermolagen, Autologen (your own collagen) or Artecoll. These procedures
involve only tiny incisions at the inside corner of each lip, or no incisions at all.
- The other procedure is to make larger incisions inside the lips to advance your
own natural tissues and often not need any filler materials.
- No dressings or garments are needed.
- This can be combined with other plastic surgical procedures.

- You can shower and wash the next day.
- There is only minimal pain that is mostly gone by the second or third day and easily
controlled by medications.

over the next three weeks. The degree of this depends on which procedure is performed and can vary from almost nothing to
quite severe for several weeks.
- Minimal or no bruising is the usual.
- Makeup can be applied as early as the second day after surgery.
- If stitches are used, they are removed at seven days.
THE RESULT
- Beautiful, balanced and proportioned contour.
- A natural result that does not look artificial or unusual even when smiling or speaking.
- Depending on the procedure the results should be permanent with the intent of lasting
rest of your life and always looks better than if you didn't do it. Occasionally additional procedures need to be done to
add more fullness if this is desired.
