THE PREOPERATIVE FEATURES
- Full, sagging or puffy upper eyelid without a fold.
- Heavy feeling to the upper eyelid which worsens as the day gets longer.
- Comments about looking older, sad, or tired.

THE PROCEDURE
- Local or general anesthesia can be used and it takes about two hours for both eyes.
- If there is NO fold in the upper eyelid, then an incision is made where you want
the new fold to occur. This is usually between 3 to 8 millimeters above the eyelashes.
- If there is already an upper eyelid fold, then an incision is made in the natural
crease and the excess skin and fat is removed.
- In the lower eyelid, the incision is made below the eyelashes or below the inside
edge of the eyelid. Excess fat and skin is removed.
- The eyelid muscles are tightened or lifted or removed depending on what is needed.
- Wrinkles are removed at the same time by laser or chemical peel if needed.
- This can be combined with a facelift or forehead lift.
